God & Country
We all have different ways of sharing our faith. My calling is through music. Music knows no color and tends to break down barriers where other methods have failed. Music allows me to share my faith in God and praise His goodness through the music I sing with the Warblers Club. Growing up in Woodlawn Methodist Church, I was very familiar with the Warblers Club of Woodlawn High School as they performed many times at the church to overflowing audiences.
When I attended Woodlawn High School, I had to wait until I was at the end of sophomore year before I could audition for membership in this club. Auditioning meant doing what every other Warbler had done for generations...sing a solo. Talk about pressure!
In 1988, alumni members of the Warblers Club gathered for a reunion show to several sold out shows at the Alabama Theatre. A seed was planted...this Club had to continue its long treasured traditions.
Today, the Warblers Club has about 40 members that carry on the Warbler tradition. Our love of the music we sing is obvious as it shows on the face of every member when we perform at churches and civic functions all across the metropolitan area. We are able to share our faith in God and love of country through the songs we sing and lift the spirits of others through the message we bring.
